From the OGA President -- OGA eNews 1, 2023

It seems a bit late to say Happy New Year, but as this is the first edition of the OGA News for 2023, it seems important.  I hope you find the OGA stories and updates from the school informative.

It seems a bit late to say Happy New Year, but as this is the first edition of the OGA News for 2023, it seems important. I hope you find the OGA stories and updates from the school informative.

The OGA Committee met for the first time for 2023 on 31 January. I warmly welcome our new Secretary, Natasha Harris, after Norma Tucker decided to step down from the position. The good news for the committee is that Norma has stayed on as a very valuable member. The conversation around the table at our first meeting about the year ahead was filled with positivity, and we again look forward to working with the Development and Community Office to invite you back to the school to meet up with old friends and reconnect with the school.

The first event for the year is the Past Student Awards. This event will be held at the school on Saturday 25 March. The Past Student Awards were first presented in 2015 and were established to recognised and celebrate the many and diverse achievements of St Margaret’s past students and to honour their legacy.

There are two award categories:

  • Distinguished Past Student (for alumnae who have passed their 20th reunion)
  • Young Past Student of Distinction (for alumnae in their 20th reunion year or younger)

Applications are now closed, and the winners will be announced soon. The evening is a special one with Old Girls connecting, celebrating, and sharing their stories to inspire past and current St Margaret’s students. I encourage you all to get a group together and support the OGA in this initiative to continue to celebrate the wonderful accomplishments of our members.

Finally, with the world opening up again, we are pleased to be able to offer the Overseas Study Scholarships. All details of the application process and due dates can be found at the following link: https://paststudents.stmargarets.qld.edu.au/pages/overseas-study-scholarship

As we continue to plan for 2023, if you have any suggestions to improve our ability to connect as an association, please email me via ndevlin73@gmail.com.
