At St Margaret’s, we are fortunate to benefit from the shade of trees planted by others.
On our fourth annual Giving Day in May, our community assisted us to literally grow trees as part of a special project or by donating to bursaries through the Scholarship Fund, they helped plant the seed by giving a girl every opportunity to grow through the gift of a St Margaret’s education.
Donations on the day were doubled by our generous Matching Donors, which included the OGA, and will help a generation of young women make their ambitions come true and enrich their St Margaret’s experience.
With your generosity, an incredible $363,000 was raised for two very important causes.
Donations to the Scholarship Fund deliver needs-based bursaries, helping us to support young women in accessing or completing a St Margaret’s education, an opportunity that some girls thought wasn’t possible. Last year, 16 students were supported with needs-based bursaries thanks to those who donated to this fund.
Donations to the Building Fund will support the development of The Canopy Cafe, a new cafeteria that articulates to a beautiful and functional greenspace with outdoor seating that will benefit all primary and secondary students. While providing a much-improved catering facility to our students, this significant project embraces the school’s focus on sustainability and the environment and goes hand in hand with our students’ wellbeing. Research increasingly tells us that access to green space is vital to the mental wellbeing, overall health and cognitive development of children and young people. The transformation of Avoca Courtyard, as the first stage of this project, will create an outdoor learning and social green space for our students.
Giving Day is a day of community spirit, and it is always so wonderful to witness the whole St Margaret’s community coming together in support of a shared goal.
Thank you to all of you who kindly donated on Giving Day this this year; we hope you enjoy this short video from everyone at St Margaret’s.
Thank you once again. We are profoundly grateful for your support.
