St Margaret's Plus Mentoring Program - Call for mentors

The best thing about the Old Girls’ Association is its members continued support of the school both philanthropically and with their time.

The best thing about the Old Girls’ Association is its members continued support of the school both philanthropically and with their time. It is a strong, connected network that continues to grow each year, and is full of wonderful Old Girls who have done, and continue to do, amazing things in their post-St Margaret’s life.

The St Margaret’s Plus Mentoring Program is an initiative that has been running for several years. It is a fantastic opportunity for past students to continue their enduring connection with their alma mater through their role as a mentor to a current Year 11/12 student. Within the program, Old Girls inspire, guide, and empower their mentees through their final year of school, and in preparation for their next steps.

I cannot overstate the value of this program in impressing upon our current students the importance of networking, connection, and hard work that comes from the mentor-mentee relationship. The girls are always eager to meet with their mentor and ask them about their career experiences, work abroad, changes in career trajectory and the dedication that comes with being an industry professional.

St Margaret’s girls are taught from a very young age to pursue their individual passions and talents, and thus the pool of mentors required for this program is diverse and multifaceted. I am encouraging all Old Girls who are interested in the program to put their name forward for the role of mentor. I am currently in need of mentors in the following fields: Veterinary Science/Technology, Agribusiness/Agricultural Science, Exercise Physiology/Science and Physiotherapy.

If you are interested in this role, or would like further details regarding the program or the specifics of the role, please contact me at LFowler002@stmargarets.qld.edu.au.
