Appointment of Mrs Nicole Devlin as the next Principal of St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School

Many Old Girls will have fond memories of Nicole spanning from the primary and secondary school, as well as from her time as President of the Old Girls’ Association. Please find below the letter shared with the wider school community.

Dear Members of the St Margaret's Community

On behalf of the School Council, I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Nicole Devlin as the next Principal of St Margaret's Anglican Girls School, commencing 1 January 2027.

Following a comprehensive, independent recruitment process, including a national and international search, the School Council is united in its support that Mrs Devlin is the right leader to guide St Margaret’s into the future. Her commitment to Anglican faith and education, and her values and vision, align strongly with the traditions, culture and philosophy of the Sisters of the Society of the Sacred Advent that define the St Margaret's experience. She brings an unwavering commitment and passion to the education and wellbeing of young women, ensuring they are challenged and supported to flourish academically, spiritually and personally.

For many in our community, Mrs Devlin is already a familiar and trusted leader. A proud Old Girl, her connection to St Margaret's spans decades: first as a student, and then through a distinguished leadership career across primary and secondary, together with extensive experience with the St Margaret’s boarding community. She has served as Dean of Academics and Deputy Principal and has acted as Principal on several occasions.

Mrs Devlin brings extensive experience in educational leadership and organisational improvement. She has led significant whole-school initiatives and is recognised for combining strategic clarity with a deep commitment to relationships across the school community. Her leadership is grounded in collaboration, integrity and a genuine dedication to students, staff, parents and the wider St Margaret’s community.

Throughout the selection process, Mrs Devlin articulated a compelling vision for St Margaret's: honouring the school’s extraordinary legacy while embracing innovation, emerging technologies, and future-focused learning. Her vision balances academic excellence and student wellbeing with strong governance and a culture of belonging grounded in the values of the St Margaret's Way.

On accepting her appointment, Nicole said:

"I am deeply honoured and humbled to be appointed as the next Principal of St Margaret's. As an Old Girl and long-serving member of this community, this school holds a very special place in my heart. I have seen firsthand the profound impact a St Margaret's education can have on the lives of young women.

I am grateful for the trust placed in me by the School Council and look forward to working alongside our exceptional staff, students, families, Old Girls and the wider community to continue building on the strong foundations that have shaped St Margaret's for more than 130 years. By embracing the opportunities of the future, we will ensure that every girl is known, challenged and inspired to become a capable, confident and compassionate young woman who will make a positive difference in the world."

As we look ahead, the School Council has great confidence in Nicole's ability to lead St Margaret's into its next chapter. Her deep understanding of the school, proven leadership and commitment to our Anglican identity position her exceptionally well to guide St Margaret's with purpose, vision and a deep respect for the school’s traditions.

The School Council extends its sincere thanks to Ros Curtis AM for her outstanding leadership and dedicated service to St Margaret’s. We look forward to formally celebrating her remarkable contribution later this year and to supporting a smooth, thoughtful transition between Principals.
