School Updates |
St Margaret’s, alongside Churchie, has had a long association with Sony Camp, with students from both schools taking on the responsibility for the care of children with disability, allowing their families to have a valuable weekend off.
The experience is always a transformative one for our Year 11 students who, as student carers, are given an incredible insight into caring for people with disability and demonstrate inclusivity, compassion and charity in their actions.
Many of our past students and current Year 12 students will have participated as a companion to a child with disability on a Sony Camp. This year, Sony Foundation is celebrating 25 years of the Children’s Holiday Camp Program (affectionately known as ‘Sony Camps’) around Australia.
If you participated as a companion/carer in the program during your time at school, you may be interested in joining the national ‘Sony Foundation Camp Alumni’ group on LinkedIn here: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/12942336/ to be kept up to date with events and news regarding Sony Foundation Camps, particularly in the lead-up to the 25th Anniversary celebrations.
