School Updates |
The annual award showcases Australian schools that have demonstrated workplace excellence by providing and prioritising the professional growth and wellbeing of their staff.
At St Margaret’s, ‘Growing our Staff’ is a key strategic priority of the school with a focus on guiding and mentoring staff through achieving their individual career and professional development plans, developing the school’s Centre of Teaching and Learning Excellence (CETLE) for the benefit of staff, and supporting staff professional learning.
In 2024, St Margaret’s launched two staff specific frameworks – a Professional Learning Framework and a Staff Wellbeing Framework – both of which clearly articulate the school’s guiding principles when it comes to the professional growth and wellbeing of staff.
These frameworks complement the school’s values and St Margaret’s unique philosophy – The St Margaret’s Way – which guides the whole school community to foster a sense of belonging, coherence and wellbeing, attributes the school recognises as intrinsic to optimal teaching and learning environments.
In addition to evaluating the outstanding programs of institutions, The Educator also relies on employee feedback on several criteria including benefits, culture and employee development, among others and is dependant on at least a 75% satisfaction rate. St Margaret’s Principal Ms Ros Curtis AM said the award was recognition of the school’s commitment to its people.
“It is an honour to receive this award as recognition of our commitment to our school’s greatest asset – our staff. At St Margaret’s, we are committed to the health, wellbeing and growth of all staff and recognise that a positive school culture is inextricably linked to the provision of an outstanding education for our students,” Ms Curtis said.
St Margaret’s has consistently demonstrated this commitment, having been a winner of the 5- Star Employer of Choice Award every year since its inception five years ago.
